The Local Community and Its Impact on Green Tourism in the Light of Sustainable Development - A Case Study of Eco-Hotels

Abstract

The natural environment plays a big role in shaping societies in terms of the systems prevailing among their members and the social form of customs and traditions prevailing in them. The tourism sector is one of the important strategic sectors that affect the lifestyles of the local communities based on it, and in order to achieve sustainable development of this sector, it was necessary to study the close link between tourism and the environment with its different natural, manufactured, social and cultural systems
The study focuses on areas with high environmental sensitivity or protected areas because they strongly affect the social systems of their members and the pattern of tourism activity allowed in those areas, besides it requires a precise definition of the characteristics of tourist facilities that can be praised, where the principles of environmental and ecological design must be adhered to in order to achieve a new type of sustainable development and green tourism, taking into account the design conditions of green hotels. This means a lot for making attempts and adopting methods that promote the formulation of accurate standards for the design of the environmental hotel, including working to develop local communities in a way that confirms their originality and preserves their personality and culture.
