Evaluation of Accessible Tourism Services as a Modern Trend for Tourism Development in Egypt

Abstract

The integration of people with disabilities in the tourist trip and giving them the right to practice tourist activities and create all the appropriate conditions for them is an important way to achieve many social and national values
This research paper aims to evaluate the services provided to people with disabilities, people with special needs and the elderly, and to identify the strengths and weaknesses of accessible tourism in Egypt, as well as to explore the extent of participation Travel and tourism companies and hotels in facilitating facilitated tourism operations within the Egyptian tourism sector
The researcher relied on the descriptive analytical approach and the data was collected through interviews with various stakeholders from the public and private sectors regarding accessible tourism, and the researcher distributed 385 valid questionnaires to persons with disabilities, special needs, the elderly and workers in travel agencies and hotels
The results of the study indicate that the accessible tourism market faces many obstacles such as the lack of a master plan for accessible tourism, the lack of facilities for the infrastructure of accessible tourism, the shortcomings and promotion in the true sense of accessible tourism (in particular, the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Tourism), although accessible tourism as a new tourism pattern is a distinct sector and has the potential for future growth in Egypt because it has many elements for its possibility of success and thus offers Tourism and travel service providers in Egypt have a market and potential large profits
