Abstract

Most countries of the world are directed towards preserving the environment and its resources and exploiting them to the extent that allows their benefits to remain for future generations,, the term sustainable development appeared, which can be used in the field of tourism development to show a new concept, which is sustainable tourism development. The tourism field can be sustainable through the three elements of sustainability: economically, socially and environmentally.
The study aimed to shed light on the concept of sustainable tourism development, its principles and dimensions, and to identify the Siwa Nature Reserve in Matrouh Governorate, including its ecological diversity and natural and tourist attractions, emphasizing the role and importance of applying sustainable tourism development standards in the development of natural reserves, in addition to submitting proposals to activate the impact of the application Criteria for sustainable tourism development on Siwa Nature Reserve, through the study’s use of the descriptive and deductive approach and analysis of a questionnaire for visitors to the reserve to identify the extent to which these criteria are applied in the reserves and the most important weaknesses and to reach recommendations to activate the role of applying criteria for sustainable tourism development in the development of the Siwa Nature Reserve and support the tourism field them in a sustainable manner.
