Abstract

This paper deals with the Journey of Alexander the Great which is considered one of the most important historical events in ancient times, for it documents the beginning of a new era which is Hellenistic era. This period dates back to the death of Alexander in 323 BC. Although there are many studies dealing with this journey due to the important details of its events, there are still other aspects worthy of research and study, and this may be another unique point in the life of Alexander the Great. Many historians and ancient writers have recorded the life of Alexander and his military campaigns, but ancient Greek and Latin sources is the most important of all sources, and this is the main focus of this research. For this research focuses on documenting Journey of Alexander the Great to Egypt in Greek and Latin sources. Egypt was a main destination in Alexander’s expedition, not only because of its geographical and political importance, but it was also the center of the worship and cult of the god Ammon, who had a special importance for Alexander.
